Can't open WSJT-X on Mac OS 10.12.6

#17330

Hello all; I have installed WSJT-X on my Mac OS 10.12.6, but can not open it due to the 'Unable to create shared memory segment error'. Installation instructions were followed to the T, shmmax shows as 14680064 in the terminal window as it should. I have uninstalled and re-installed repeatedly to no avail. I installed WSJT-X on a different Mac (OS 10.14) just two days before and had zero issues. What can I do to fix this?
Thanks,
Jim KB5IJ

Jim,
you don't mention which version of WSJT-X you are trying to run but I will assume it is WSJT-X v2.3.0 RC1. The shared memory requirements have changed, apologies for not including tan updated sysctl.conf file, you can find one here in this old post:

Hi Bill, I followed the link you provided, but for the life of me can not find the updated file. I made it to drop box and downloaded what I thought was supposed to be the file, but it was not there. I am not very knowledgeable about computers AT ALL, so anything that’s not self explanatory is going to totally lose me.

My apologies; I looked back at my notes, and I have tried to install both the 2.2 and 2.3 versions of WSJT-X, with the same results. I don’t even understand how I got the 2.3 version, because I am clicking the 2.2 version for Mac download from the WSJT-X website. But when I tried last night, opening the download revealed BOTH versions. I downloaded again this morning, and only the 2.2 version downloaded. I’m more confused than ever now.

I had the shared memory issue with v2.3. The updated sysctl.conf works fine.
